Exhaust / Manifold / Not sure what it is!! PLEASE HELP!!

Afternoon guys....

I was driving last night and then all of a sudden my engine/exhaust sound became weird / louder!
When the engine is at idle it seems to make a ticking noise / sounds like a big chavs car!

When i rev the engine the 'bad' noise disappears around 1.5-2.5k rpm and then comes back around 3k+ rpm.... sounds like its been decatted or something... how the chavs like it to sound i guess but it just sounds ridiculous to me!

Could this be a crack in the manifold? gaskets? seals? etc etc

Can't get it booked into renault to see if its covered under warrenty for a week or so....

If anyone is in the aberdeen area and has a bit more of a clue than i do (which is none) - Would appreciate a bit of help and/or advice. Is this a simple fix etc?!

Need it fixing ASAP as i am meant to be driving to glasgow with work on Wednesday!

Alternativly - is there any garages that are willing to take a quick look at this and advise?!

Cheers....

Know of any in the aberdeenshire area that you can recommend?

I am going to argue the toss with renault UK and try get it on warranty... as the mechanic told me it was through no fault of my own as it has heat fatigued... and blag that its part of the engine... the cat is covered on it, does that not fall under exhaust system? we'll see what they say on WEdnesday!

£1k?! Be cheaper to hire a car for a week for work and get it fixed at a price where you don't need to bend over!

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
for £1k they'll be replacing the manifold, which will have as good a chance of failing again as the original (design is crap, and a lot weaker than the 172/182) For less than that, you could have it repaired and strengthened, and have the pre-cat replaced with a Y-pipe. Upgrade for less than repair = free power
