Exhaust Paint

Hi all, ive attached a picture of my exhaust, anybody got any suggestions on what paint to use to make it look a little better,

What with there being lots of heat resistant paints out on the market

Some people paint the backbox black if it's noticable to others from behind.

I personally don't like seeing the back box, just the pipe.

Seen a few concours cars with painted exhausts and it looks a bit poo.

Clean it up with some Autosol or other metal polish. Works well on my 182.

Hi Rich, ive used Autosol for years, but the exhaust is stained and started to go rusty, autosol cleaned the rust off but not the marks.

Think im just gonna have to wait till i get my blueflame

Any other ideas??

I had some marks like that on mine which luckilly the metal polish shifted, but like you say wont do anything for the rust.

Stainless is the way to go.

If you do want to paint it www.frost.co.uk sell paint made for exhausts.

Will some metal polish shift paint? as ive got two lines of paint on my exhaust where its rubbed on the back bumper and melted the paint off.

Depending on how bonded/melted on it is it may shift it.

Demon tweeks do good exhaust paint...expensive but stays on there.

I used some to paint the turbo downpipe on my old Impreza (Very hot) and it stayed put

good choice hope it all fits ok as mine rattles on the heat shield whihc istill havnt sorted out lol

Thanks Serg, ive heard that with 172's never really heard any problems with 182 fitment etc

Cant you just bend the heat sheild out of the way??
