Exhaust - please help!!

  172 Cup
I need a new centre and back section for a 172 cup. The garage cant get a replacement, says it renault only part. Is this true? They say its £440 (.

Its about to fall off so need to act quickly. What other aftermarket exhausts are available?

You can see the tail pipe on the other 172's I have seen about but you cant see anything of the exhaust on the back of mine. Would the back bumper need modifying at all to fit an aftermarket exhaust?

Sorry about all the questions!

Thanks in advance.

This is a good bet if you want a 'stealth' non visible tail pipe.
Not sure about availability, your location in relation to K-tec or how long delivry takes? :

It's £310 and stainless steel so has a lifetime warrenty, much better than the standard renault mild steel exhausts which rust (as you've found out!)

I'm not too bothered about the tip showing, think I would probably perfer it but was wondering if people with aftermarket exhausts had to modify the bumper at all.

Depends how low you want it too hang. Some people cut out a semi-circle in the plastic rear bumper so the exhaust sits more flush. Do a search for 172 Exhaust and I'm sure you find plenty of pictures on the forum. Some on ebay :

What ever you choose, I wouldn't recomend getting a renault one, they're very poor quality. Make sure you go for stainless steel also.

a centre section from reno is £280.... i got one last november, if the backbox is ok, you need a sleave to connect it to the centre section, these are £18

edit just seen you need a back box too, you'll be better off with a stealth as mentioned above, or a magnex, if you still have the cat these aren't too noisy

Prospeed cat back stainless system, cut into the bumper - under £300 including design and fitting - various designs available, can even choose the sound to a degree.

That's all very well if you live in Wales, but if you have an angle grinder then you can do the cutting yourself. There will be someone that is based within 20 miles of you that works with stainless steel and exhausts, who should be able to do a system for £250. It's hardly rocket science for a single pipe cat back system, the only reason it usually increases power is that they use a bigger bore. Not because it's got a fancy design.

I certainy don't live in Wales Mr Khunt.

The original poster is clearly on a budget so is hardly going to spunk a monkey plus on a performance one are they?
