Exhaust problem

I have a standard zorst and on tick over all sounds ok. when accelerating the zorst makes sorta ticking noise.the noise seems to come from the footwell near where the cat and the front pipe are. the noise gets louder the harder you accelerate. this noise has been there from day i bought the car but got really loud after today after i had the centre section replaced due to it been knackered. just wondered if anyone knows what it is or could be . colin

i had a crack on my cat - where the downpipe connected to the cat box

was that making a ticking sort of noise? did it also affect you mpg because mine has dropped dramatically last £20 worth of fuel got 112miles out of it thats keeping it below 3000 most of the time because the noise gets very loud after that

well it started making a ticking / cracking type of noise then after a couple of days sounded like a tank. The crack wa 3/4 the way round the pipe where it was welded to the cat box (engine end)

oh also had power loss and less mpg
