Hi, i had my whole exhaust system replaced a few months ago, as the rear section failed and the movement must have broke the manifold, however, when the exhaust centre fitted it, the mounts were shagged. I fitted a rear mount myself and noticed that the centre mount had failed and was being held on with 2 tywraps, so i got a new one and fitted it.
Since then the exhaust rattles like mad when i come off the throttle and is loud as hell when coming down through 3k rpm.
This leads me to two possible conclusions:-
a) my exhaust is not the correct one, the centre box is too big and hitting the heatshield and resonating excessively.
or.. b) my engine mounts are shagged and let the engine tilt forward at the top/ back at the bottom, thus pushing the whole system up against the body of the car, causing a rattle by allowing excessive movement of the engine. does anyone have any experiene of such problems???????? cheers
