Exhaust rusted through... really loud!

Car  Liquid Yellow R27
Hey guys,

I was driving along the other day and all of a sudden my car went ridiculously loud. I've looked under the car to find this...

It looks like it's just rusted from the joint and broke. Any idea what I would need doing to fix this and if so, roughly how much it would cost? Anyone you could recommend going to in the Birmingham area to get this fixed? Also.. it might be worth mentioning that I have a de-cat that is / was blowing a bit from the side furthest away from that box in the picture.

Thanks in advance guys. Probably going to drive it as little as possible until this is fixed.

any decent garage will be able to weld that back up for you. id check your engine mounts too as its possbly worn mounts thats contributed to it braking, although there has been an obvious weak point to being with

Thanks guys! Any idea of how much I should be paying to get that fixed? Don't want to be ripped off.

Just please dont use MIJ in Walsall....SHIny and brighT is how I would refer to them!!!

Haha will stay clear of them for sure. I'll let you guys know how I get on and thanks again for the advice.

Just had it welded back together for £20 at a local garage. They think the cause was because of how the de-cat pipe is tightly screwed on, not leaving any flex. They recommended getting an exhaust fitting kit.

ahh do you not have a fitting kit on the manifold to cat join? thats whats caused your issue then, as i said above with the engine mount suggestion it looked to me as if it had been pulled apart suggesting worn mounts but no spring loaded joint would cause this too

Yes but it needs to be a genuine renault part or it will leak..

call 01902 439264 ask to speak to Adam he is only in wllenhall

Thanks mate, would that be a genuine Renault part on the eBay listing? Have just sent the seller a message asking them. Will give Adam a call now to see how much I'd be looking at. :)

Just spoke to Adam, got a price off him. Might get my mate on here who works in Willenhall to go pick it up for me if he'd be so kind ;)

I would also consider polybushing your dogbone mount too. I had similar prob in same area of exhaust. Got it welded up and modded the dogbone. Prob has not returned.
