G Gray Car M3 Touring Jul 30, 2009 #3 You cannot "over tighten" the manifold to cat nuts iirc... the thread runs out before the head of the bolt! Cat to centre section... make sure the joint is sealed correctly then get the nuts as tite as you can by hand

Then make them a little tighter. If any joint is going to cause you grief it's that one, to the point where my exhaust fell off. Twice.
