exhaust tips

  White clique
hi all

whats the best product to put some life back into my exhaust tips, they are not crome but have a matt metal finish and no amount of duraglit is getting the blackness off! They are filth. Steel wool and something? Where can i get steel wool from, couldnt see any on polished bliss/?

thanks

Autosol (from halfords/tescos/anywhere)

Wire wool/brillo pad.

Microfibre cloth.

Use the wirewool and autosol (wear gloves, I expect you have manicures and they'll leave your hands clean) and just keep rubbing. Clean it all off.

Then autosol and a micrfofibre and polish it all up spick and span. :)

awesome never heard of autosol so i'll buy some tomorrow. Bit worried about using a full on brillo so i reckon i'll try one of those plastic scouring pads and see how i get on!

Cheers for the heads up about the gloves daniel, deffo dont want to ruin my cuticles!

Just use an old brillo pad from the kitchen.

Polishing metal creats LOTS of black gunge, hence my protective recomendations...

pic update:

here is the bit the whole world has been waiting for... i got some of that autosol and a scotchbrite and also used a bit of WD-40 as well so i used all the ideas, took less than 5 mins to do the whole lot! I was expecting the worst but this stuff is OK!

after:

but then i also noticed a rogue stone had totally wedged itself between the pipes, should have just left it as i spent 10 mins smacking it out with a hammer and screw driver, properly wedged in! WD-40 came in handy.

So all in all, it now looks better!

Looks good Alan. I would have been wary of them being a Matt finish and using anything too abrasive, but they look great.

I would suggest buying a metal sealant to aid in the cleaning process in future. Something like the metal sealant from Blackfire.
