Exhaust woes

As stated here my 03 172 Cup has started having some real issues. It sounds like I've fitted a fat bore exhaust and the backbox itself is visible where it should be neatly tucked away.

Are there any reputable garages around the West Yorks area you guys know of? I don't want to drive it far to them but I don't want to take it to some fools that don't know the car either.

To give you an idea I'm about 2 miles from Well Lane in the Wakefield direction.

I'm thinking of taking it to Kwik Fit and getting them to have a look at it to see if there's anything can be done to save the current exhaust, maybe tell them I'm attempting to source OEM parts for it. Good idea?

No idea the link doesn't seem to work for me.
Personally I'd go get a Renault ro copy etc part and stick that on instead the exhaust can be fut and joined with a clamp.

Accrington is a bit of a drive with half of the exhaust looking like it is about to drop off. Don't want it to take the rear bumper with it.

What is a ro copy?

Loads of exhaust threads on here..just do a search and you should find some good reccomendations for a new system etc.

Not really. I couldn't find any recommendations for what I wanted. I needed it to remain a hidden tailpipe and I didn't want stupid noise from it.

Ended up going OEM for £440 including fitting and MOT (couple of things needed doing on the MOT but nothing major). At least she remains completely standard.

good choice imo, all aftermarkets are too boomy and loud, and give no gains over the stock unit

I thought the OE was relatively restrictive. Defo think you'd gain a little from a larger bore. Agree that manyare too boomy and loud though

Yup.

My powerflow S/S cat back's going back to the garage on Monday to be "quietened down" a bit.

Asked them if they can put a third silencer in like the Blueflame ones for the 172.

.....not that they're quiet.....

gt_gaz and baldylocks are right. I've only had mine about a month and its toooooo boooooomy at low revs. Sounds like it did before i had a backbox put back on!!!!

look at all these aftermarkets out there, i bet 90% of them give no gains, and actually loose you power I'm sure that a few peeps have done before and after on the rolling roads and gained nothing. Granted the O.E exhaust is made from kitkat rappers, but imo are pretty good

Is there such a thing as a silent, aftermarket stainless exhaust?

well if there was i'd buy it. I heard an st 150 fiesta the other day, sounded nice in stock form, better than the 172/182. Exhaust had a nice note to it
