Exhaust wrap

  TDI tyre shreader
reduces uner bonnet temps and also aids gas flow in the exhaust (gases stay hotter so have a higher velocity).

Yeah i'd like to know if there any advantages...there is a small tuning company here that offers it.

ive wrapped my manifold it cost about £100 in wrap and locking strips and the manifold needs to be off the car to do a decent job, the clio's engine bay is very small so i doubt it keeps the bay temperatures down too much but it helps gas flow

I was just about to mention that you'd have to take the manifold off.....bit of a pain to do.

You can buy 'jackets' from places like Demon Tweeks and Merlin that have the same function...just don't require wrapping/sealing and removal of the manifold.

theory is to increase thermal efficiency. any gas speed increase due to density change would be minimal due to relative high pressures of exiting gases. only really worth it on turbocharged engines.

plus average quality stainless manifolds crack from the uneven wrapping causing hot spots and differing rates of thermal expansion/contraction.

Pretty much all round pointless nowadays.
