exhaust???

  Arctic Blue 182
When I put my foot down, my back window gets covered in what looks like water from my exhaust. I havent actually smelt it so it could be petrol, not really sure to be honest.

First time i noticed it was when i was driving down the motorway, i was doing about 125 and the back window was covered in water, and it always happens when I cane it in each gear. Any ideas what it is?

Thanks

It's normal. 182 exhausts seem to collect water for a past-time. fuel would be black smoke and oil is bluey colour. The way the air passes over the car sucks the water droplets onto the back of the car/rear screen.

Any white smoke/condensation coming out of the exhaust is either caused by it collecting (condensation) in the silencers or a fucked headgasket. Headgasket is very unlikely but if you want to put your mind at ease take the oil filler cap off and the expansion cap off and check there are no signs of a mayonnaise type build up. Also temp gauge and performance/oil/water consumption can be signs of a failed gasket.

Thanks Loony, will have a look when I get in from work. One thing I will ask, where is the oil filler? When i bought my car, I asked the sales bloke to show me where it was and he said, good question, i have no idea.

lol, the engine cover has a little flap with the 2.0l stickers on it. Pull this off (they can be a bit stiff so if you cant get it off remove the whole engine cover its only 4bolts) and the cap is underneath it.

does this happen to your car as well???

I will check it all as soon as I get in tonight. I have never had this with any of my other cars.

Yup mine does it in the winter. Over the summer its less likely unless its a very cold night. And even in the winter once the car has been warmed up and had a good run it should stop as all the moisture should be out of the exhaust.
