Screws in plates are not bad in themselves, its poor fitting that makes them look crap. I swapped the standard screws for security fixings in mine, I don't like the idea of velcro holding my plate on!

This is what Renault Leicester do as standard. I like that they took there time to hide the fixings in the lettering, but if I'm being picky, I would do without the border.

I had no plans to change the plates, but considering the front plate is now chipped (bottom centre) I might look round for some plain ones. And yes, it needs a clean.

On most of the cars I have owned i've done this, just looks so much cleaner. I go a step further and drop the BS number as well though!

Update:

I finally sorted my rear plate out. I went for a plain one, but slightly smaller than the size the car was supplied with, but still bang on the legal limit as I understand it. 520mm x 101mm

Couldnt get a good or straight on photo, as my car is sat on the garden right up against the fence Looks better in person

Im quite happy with how it looks, although I havent seen it properly due to the above reason.

Click on the "fancyplate" constrcutor rather than the legal option. They you select uk font etc, and the next page you can adjust the size.

I've had no bother about my plates yet, my fronts tiny as you saw! My rear is only half the size it should be too... got pulled the other day and they didnt mention either which surprised me.

Ill give it a try, see what it looks like. There's 2 holes part way down the recess though, were some springy looking things are, so I cant go too much further down I think.

Haha... Ive never had any bother with the plates. Saying that, ive never been pulled over.
I would have thought they would have pulled you up on the rear though. Its tiny lol. Your front plate looks legalish tbh.

I think it actually looks pretty much spot on now ive seen it from further back. I need to move it down slightly though.

Do we also think it's time to take off the Charlie Sheen sticker? I dont particularly want to take it off, but it doesnt look great does it lol.

Yes loose the sticker in the rear window.

Not 100% sold on the rear plate but the front is a definate winner!
