exterior door handle fault...

Right,

Basically the other day I changed my exterior door handles over to new colour coded ones.. was an easy enough task and everything worked perfectly when I finished... The next day I unlocked the car using the central locking went to pull the drivers side door handle and it wouldnt work.. I went around to the passenger side and it worked fine. I reached accross and opened the drivers side door from the inside.. walked around the car closed the door and when I tried to open it again it worked.. I then locked the car, then opened it and again the drivers side would not open...

OK.. so I have narrowed it down to possibly somthing faulty with the central locking... It seems that when the car is opened witht the central locking somthing isnt working so that the drivers door is unlocked... this is hard to explain, but hope you get the idea.. Does anyone know what I have done or if I have knocked something off when changing the handles? Its really starting to bug me that to get in the drivers side I have to reach accross from the passengers side!

When can I do to sort out this problem?? Has anyone else ever had the same problem?

The interior handle will always open the door from the inside, that's a safety feature.
As you've siad it sounds like you've knocked/dislodged something to do with the locking mechanism on the drivers door.
Take the door card off again and check everything looks correct.

I did that earlier... but didnt see anything wrong.. its just odd that the exterior handle works ok once its been opened from the inside and then shut again... that must knock the lock off which isnt happening when the central locking is opened.

looks like the door card is coming off for a third time!! its hard though with such a tiny space to work in!

Yeah I know what you mean, with all the structural metalwork there's very little room to work!
Maybe also take off the passenger side door card too (a pain I know) but providing that one's working fine just compare the two and make sure everything is the same?
