Extremely loud idler?

Hi, got my new 172 last weekend only got it taxed today so popped to my mums and back and on idle its sounding like this... at any revs its fine, I assume this is a foooked idler pully? Bit worried driving it encase it completely destroys itself tbh!

Never heard one up close! You sure its that? What generally causes these to go?

Poor servicing is normally the cause of them going iirc.

If it needs the belts doing soon anyway, you couldn't have picked a better time for it to start rattling.

Mine started getting noisey 6 months after I had both belts changed :dapprove:

It's no big deal, most just say that more regular oil changes would keep it alive.

Booked in at 519 for the 11th to get it sorted! Trying not to drive it alot until then as its a 2 hour trip from me!
