Hi there mate! just seen pics of the slamned biatch! im also wanting to slam my mrk 2 phase 2 too! where did you get your coilovers? ive spoke to a few people and theyve put me off cause they said i could only drop it 50mm on the back and 70mm on the front and mines already been droped 60mm all round on standard shocks! did you come across any real hicups or ball aches and would you advise me to get coilovers too cause i really do think that adjusting the ride hight is more practicle than just getting custom-100mm springs on shocks!!

Cheers mate!

they were from a company called FK Coilovers, who custom made them for around £750

i believe he used k-tec as the main contact point though

whats the lowest im looking then! cause at the momet i can still see the tops of the tyre! and thats 60mm!

what should i do????????? ARGHHHHHGHGHHHH!!

L

it looked quite low when it was on 15s but now the 17s just look gay cause you can see the tops of the tyre! i dont want to totally kick the arse outa lowering it but just want the majority of the rear tyre in the arch and a bit of the front in the arch too!

Bonjour!!!! The coilovers on my car are made by FK automotive (through R&A design, but im sure K-tec can do the same) I had them made extra low cos the std FK coilovers "only" lower 80mm but currently my car is sat at the physical limit ie its impossible to take it any lower (i dont care what anyone syas its impossible, TRUST ME, IVE TRIED!!!!) Its sat at 100m front and 110mm rear

Problems -

the tyres sometime hit the metal work inside the arches, ive cracked BOTH front wings, i hit a speed bump and pushed the exhaust up into the rear bumper and melted it, tyre wear is not too bad, pot holes are a BIG NO NO!!! Passengers moan all the time cos it f**king hurts when you hit a bump in the road!!!! The inside of the car rattles to f**k, the CD player sometimes skips

Oh yeah, if you get a flat, youre f**ked cos its impossible to get a jack under it!!!

But apart from that its ok,and i love it!!!!!

Advantages

No one can clamp it, and it looks mint and handles really good

lmfao. how much am i looking at paying then for the coilovers which drop 80mm?? where can i get em and will i have to do anything else for it regarding the lowering aspect??

so i could basicallty adjust the front to -75mm and the back yo -80mm?

sorry about all these dumb ass questions but im quite challenged at times! as much info as poss please mate!

ps woukd it make all that much difference in looks from -60 to -80. got pics in prev thread^^^^

Erm the std FK coilovers are £550ish http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=854http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=854

you will have to do some work on the arches, but nothing too hard, my car runs with no arch liners, you might be able to get away with keeping them. TBH its a bit of a "trial and error" type thing. You will probably have to cut away plastic from the front wings+bumper plus get your rear arches rolled

trust me noel

freds is lower than anything i have ever come across, yours stands out more being a lighter colouer, with freds the dark colour of the body makes it difficult to distinguish where the bodywork end and the tyre starts

the 3rd pic is taken from such a low angle that it doesnt shoe the real drop the car has

i like the black clio, thing is its not the lowest in the uk buy a long shot, theres many people on the saxo sports club etc running around 130mm at the rear with f**k all arches, removed fuel fillers and bumpstops on 17s

and there covering all tyre and a few cm of alloy

or does he mean lowest clio in uk?

  Titanium 182

well hes not the lowest clio, iv seen it in the flesh and iv seen the blue valver in the flesh

thats the lowest clio outa them 2

unless he means lowest mk3 ;) :p

not sure, but the ground clearance on freds car is almost non existant

would be interesting to see what the groud clearance really is

believe me

fred has removed plenty from the arches just so that the wheels will actually fit

if you dont believe me, take a trip to the next mids meet and compare your cars, this car is lower than any other clio i have seen, then compared to mine (35mm) i could have swore that mine had diesel springs fitted

thats the first saxo that looks quite nice! makes the girly 106 look like its on 4x4 suspension!!

fred. are they 16" or 17"

  BMW 535D

the black clio on superleggeras yeh??

in the first 2 pics it doesnt look low, but it looks a lot lower in the bottom pic from the weird angle.

L

liam

[Phil using Liams account]

That saxo is higher than my 106 at the front, and lower at the back

My ride height is calculated by pugsport - 15/20mm higher at the back than the front to maintain optimum chassis dynamics

That saxo will be soooooo light on the front your gonna get understeer like fook on the track

But then again you girly clio owners dont care about handling do you?
Just how good you look to your boyfriends!!!

the saxo is 40mm at front, dean bought sum 60mm springs for it but he lost interest in it when he got the valver

he doesnt really drive it hard anyway so performance isnt really an issue

L

liam

"performance isnt really an issue"

Thats fair play then - cos its looks the nuts

But I need mine for track and 1/4 mile action so handling is a big issue
Which is why Im getting NOS and Pugsport ARBs :D

  Titanium 182

liam, is it you who has 17s cos im afraid to say yd be better of on 15s and about a 50mm drop slighly lower at the front, not show set up! lol

  Lionel Richie

GUYS!!!! Bloody hell ive missed all the fun!!!!! Erm as to the "lowest clio" thing, im refering to clios 1998 onwards!!! (sorry should make that more clear) saxos (dont get me going) and older clios have torsion bars (as we all know) so going really low is "eaiser" (but still envolves work) on those, theoritcally there isnt a limit (well upto the arch meets tyre bit) Clios from 1998 onwards all have 4 springs so in my opinion its harder to go as low (i know saxos have sod all room, but i aint on about saxos here) due to there being a limit in the rear springs compressing so much that all the coils are touching

Whoever said "na thats only 80mm" remember all cars are different, saxo on 100mm drop looks much much lower than my car on 110mm rear 100mm front (and its proven, the Renault mechanics measured it against a std clio)

so shutupyerface!!! (but in a jokingly nice friendly way, dont want to upset anyone!!!)

for all those who havent seen this

  Titanium 182

low, but i recon you need more :D

i can understand what your saying about harder to lower etc, but you have put 2inch bigger wheels and there isnt 11cm arch gap on a std clio and you dont have that much tyre in there

i dunno

nice car btw, when iv seen it in the flesh looks sh*t hot

L

liam

i apologise for the asshole who hijacked my name! the guy with the 106! still pissing myself about him saying hes got it set up for 1/4 miles and track days cause hes done one 1/4 mile in that car and its never seen a track in its life! probably safe to as its only a 1.4 sh*tsilver!! *quiksilver*

he also said that he didnt think your car was -100mm cause of those pics but i think the third pic might prove it! ;)

mine does have 17s yeah and it handles w**k! cause its on standard shocks so if i turn quickly it almost rolls! "which is nice"

me thinks coilovers are the way forward with an -80mm drop then im bloody leaving my car cause i need to start saving for cup for my 21st :D

and you can actually fit your hand inbetweenthe arch and the tyre by the loks of it

looks nice though, but you can tell the difference

  Mk2 Golf GTI

i think 60 looks nice but does it feel like a hard ride? im going for a -55mm spax kit from k-tec
