I'd look at that if it was mine. Go mental on the outside and let the fuc-mop know how I feel.

Then on the inside be doing backflips knowing that the front bumper would be getting a FOC respray and cover Stone-Chip Central. :)

It's not right, but accidents do happen. It could be worse - you could have taken it somewhere who denied all knowledge of it. Obviously you wouldn't accept that, but then you'd have the uphill battle of proving they were useless in the first place.

Annoyed you should be but it could be worse man. At least they owned up.

Some guy on CS took his car in and they hack sawed the old light washer (the old one was leaking) on the front and scratched the bumper and light then told him the damage was done in the carpark and thurs was out of their hands.

Spot on. I didn't know whether to punch the guy in the face with anger or punch the air with glee!

Hehehe! Does chipped flamer look as bad as chipped black gold, then??? :) Just a pisser about your rim - that would be the bit that would grate on me the most. Certainly worth checking that she's still running straight and true once you get her back.

shocking! my worst fear when leaving my car at any garage...

certainly push for as much as you can get. What garage was it by the way?

Croydon Renault, the one at Coulsdon? Just under the bridge...

just down the road from me mate....bunch of twonks in there...when i was looking for a 172 i went there, saw a real nice monaco...went back a few days later for a test drive and it had a nice big dent in the rear quarter lol

Have a look at the picture on the first page mate, it's not pretty! And to think, I'd only had the splitter a few days! I actually considered taking a photo of it before it went in just incase it came back to me damaged but forgot to do so. Apparently they owned up because it's "such a nice car" and not something they own up to often, which is so bad for all those that have come away with dings and dents in the past and got nowhere.

We bought the dynamique from there which my mum and brother now drives and they were really good. Friendly, polite. This is just a shocker compared to that. I can't fault the guys at the front of house behind the desks (although one sales man did tell on a test drive of the dynamique that it wasn't idling right because "16v just don't". It later turned out to be the coils!) just the pidgeon-english twonks with the buckets and sponges!

When the car's back it'd be great to have a mini meet seeing as I missed the last one. That's another topic though :)

Very useful pointers there cookson, cheers bud :) I've passed those on to my folks to pass on to Renault as obviously being a week day I'm at work. My mum is an additional driver so she's driven it down there and picking up my courtesy car. She likes a good fight too, which is useful seeing as I can't be there today.

The trouble with the dealership I use is that A) it really is the only one for MILES and B) the twot who damaged my car is not solely a Renault employee. He's one of a gang of 'foreigners' who clean and prep the cars in readiness of their collection from services. An on site subcontractor. Does anyone elses dealership follow this route? Needless to say, it happened about three minutes before I arrived as it was being driven over to their car wash area.

No problem.

However, couple more pointers.

1. Don't go breaking their courtesy car. They are doing you a favour. Granted, some c**t has damaged your car, but they have offered to fix it for you. You break their car, and its just going to cause problems to get yours sorted.

2. Dont worry about the fact a sub contractor did it. They will have an indemnity contract with said subbies employers (if they have any sense) so renault will pay for the damage and claim it back as a recovery from the sub contractor.

Be as nice as pie, you go in all guns blazing and they will probabaly drag it out. Be nice, make sure your needs are met before going off.

Good luck fella, hope it gets sorted ASAP

So true! You'll get pushed to the back of the list if you start throwing your weight around.

Oh, there will be pictures alright! Only if you promise pictures ;) Jokes.

I'll keep you all informed but thanks SO much for all your comments and advice. This is the best £5 I think I've ever spent outside of a Burger King!

I think i'm going to just play it cool, calm and collected. The car is with them now, I've got a courtesy replacement and if the work isn't up to scratch (no pun intended!) then I'll simply ask them to do it again.

At the end of the day I'm going to be receiving one MINT car back, it's just going to be missed whilst the work is taking place, that's the thing which gets me down the most.

ahh, i can't believe they did that! Coulsdon is a ridiculous space to manoeuvre cars about. When i took mine in once i had to do like a 3million point turn just to get out of the b*stard space (and that's not just because i'm a girl!) Quite agree with the service desk, they are lovely :)

Kinda relieved you didn't say epsom - christ, i'm surprised they even know what customer service is...

Now we both have cars damaged by someone else!

I didn't know there was one at Epsom?! I think I may stay clear though having read what you just wrote... what did they (or didn't!) do?

Amy

  UR R26, Hyundai IX35
Wilsons in epsom? Teamed with nissan, vauxhall and citroen etc..

They are an actual bunch of f*ckwits down there, bought my dynamique from them, and it went back like 4 times inside a month with a different problem everytime. Eventually ended in half of my engine being replaced - most of them seemingly have no idea what they're doing.
Though the guy at front desk who let me test drive the 182 cup they had when i was looking for a new one was lovely, was well into his trackdays with his car, telling me about his friend with a trophy heh.

Services and parts department though.... don't even go there! They keep you waiting for no reason, like see you walk in and pretend they're busy, just generally rude people.
They make you feel like you're inconveniencing them with what they see as silly questions and things...just eurgh!

Amy

  UR R26, Hyundai IX35
oh...and i've never been near them with this one, only about an auxiliary connection and even then I still didn't know the answer to what I asked.
They didn't damage anything - remember the friend on the bonnet situation? That's what I meant!

  Monaco 172
not sure if its been said yet but the water could have come from the tube that does headlight washers. it happened me when i had a front end bash, s**t and thought it was radiator but the washer bottle was empty.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Yeah, I managed to suss that one out earlier on today but thanks mate. I just had horrible visions of it being a ruptured breakline or something! Maybe a bit extreme but I just didn't know....

That may have been one of mates, he used to work there for a while and I'm sure he said he knows someone that owns a Trophy at somepoint, don't see him very often to be honest...

both the epsom and coulsdon ones are pretty shite, so's the one in kingston for that matter too lol, although the parts desk in Epsom have been rather useful if a little slow lol

The garage tell me that my car will be ready by Friday - result! I'm having the front disks and pads replaced and the cambelt too while I'm there. Gotta' love warnatees!

Also, do you think £130 + VAT is a good price for having my bonnet resprayed? I'm thinking about having it done seeing as how I'll have an immaculate front bumper. It would be nice to get the front end good and tidy all over...

  Titanium 182
just sneak in at night and bend your bonnet scratch a bit of paint off say it was them in the accident.

Or you could just say the paint doesnt match the rest of my car and demand an entire respray ;)

As said, as long as you are calm and polite everything will be sorted.
Oh and 130 + vat sounds pretty reasonable to me, you would be around that if you came to our garage to have it done, depending on what repair was needed.

His name was andy i believe? Said he had a gsi corsa or something. It was only in march sort of time

Got the car back last Friday mate but at the time they lent me a Twingo. Officially the slowest car in the world. Maybe.

  A Flamin' Red one
He must have applied so much pressure to the bumper that it bent in on itself and recessed to the same position as that fog!

  A Flamin' Red one
How does it look now then? What was done? and are you happy with the fix bud?

It looks fresh and clean now! They heat treated it aparently, filled it, smoothed it, sprayed it etc. Very pleased with the end result and while It was with the body shop I asked them to spray the bonnet to get rid of 6 years of stone chips and paint flecks. £130 for the bonnet which I didn't think was too bad?
