F4R 712 upgrade

Hi,
I'm Jimmy from Hungary.
I've just bought a Laguna 2 2.0 16V as a daily driver (next to my GT Turbo).
This has the F4r 712 engine 135Hp. As I have to rebuild it because of the oil consumption, I'd like to tune it as well.
Aim is a 160ish Hp.
As I know the BE is the same (?) as the 172 engine, isn't it?
So can I put a 172 head? Or just the cams?
What would make sense? What can I 'bolt on'? What should be modified?
Thanks for all the help!

Personally I would buy a damaged 172 and swap everything over as required.

Building your f4r 712 into a 730 would probably be a hell of a job. I can appreciate finding a 172 may be difficult/overly expensive in Hungary.

From my albeit, limited knowledge. The entire top end of the engine will be different, ecu/mapping will be different. Wiring loom differences. The list will go on and on.

With a donor 172, you could make the job whole easier imo.

I hope this helps.

Yes you are right. It would be the best. It is not impossible to find a 172. The only problem is that I cannot legally change the engines.
As the Laguna was never delivered with that one. And on every MOT they could check the engine number.
So question is if have the head reworked a bit can I use the 172 cams? Or maybe the intake manifold?
As I know the Laguna intake is rather small.
