f7r gearbox

is the gearbox from a 2.0 16v megane to suit f7r the same as a williams box?

i need a new box for the 172 engine but undecided whether to use a 172 box or this one?

how much different is the 172 unit to the williams? ie ratios etc as im led to believe they mount up the same?

ta

ish, the mount on the meggy JC5 is different to the valver/willy, but as is the pseedo drive but thats only a case of changing the drive/sensor.

The 172 box has the same proiblems, the top mount is different.

so there is no way i can use the valver top mount on the jc5 box?

also can i just use the valver speedo drive in the jc5 box?

as you say even if i get the 172 box im gonna have to sort the mount, beaniemoo is doing it and says 4 out of 5 bolts line up with the inner wing and one needs some adjusting

my other resort is to use the same clutch cable mounting setup as on the jc5 (ie a bolted bracket rather than the valver which is part of the casing) it then goes back to the problem of the valver box having 114k on it, aaarrggghh its doing my nut in!!

well im using a 1.4 gearbox, yes the speedo drive just pulls out and the valver one just slots in. I havent looked at the 172 mounting, so cant comment, all i know is they're different on the box side.

Ive used the 172 clucth braket/fork set up on the 1.4 box and it fits nicely.

Can't remeber if it was you I was speaking to but i'm running a 172 box in mine and it does hang in the valver mount but it doesn't look safe as the mount barely braces the last 1" of the thread. 172 one is easily moddified to fit the valver though.
