when is the optimum rpm to shift? eg peak power, peak torque, redline etc?

any tips?

Hard to tell unless youve had your car on a rolling road. Theres usually a gradual increase in power then the graph goes down like a stone. 6500 in mine - miles sooner than the redline, rev limiter or the optimum change light.

You should be able to feel when the car stops pulling but continues to sound like its accelerating. On my car its about 6700rpm but the setup is obviously different. On a 1/4 mile though you tend to just rag it all the way to the limiter (I do anyway hehe) - even if you dont intend to
