just want to know what you tell your insurance about the change from a 1800 to a 2000 if you did tell them what difference has it made .

cheers

mike

Probably no point. If you use the 16V exhaust manifold then youd need a true expert to tell the difference. Even scappies confuse the two bottom ends.

what about the engine number just change it on the log book(and if i did that would it not come back as a 2.0 and therfore not correspond with my cover note

look people cant make these sorts of decisions for you!

You decide yourself and live with the consiquences if any!

i dont want any decisions made for me just wonderd what people tell insurers isnt the general point of these forums to ask questions and find out about things from other peoples experiences

no dude, how about you ring an insurance company for a quote on a 1.8 and then tell them its been modified to 2.0

Every1s position is different to your own!

i was only looking for a rough idea of what to do or if there was any way around certain things it aint harming you if i ask that surely

Mate, dont tell em! if ur worried about the engine number rip the f**ker off. its only held on with 2 rivets. put your original one on or just none at all.

Doubt an insurance company will rip the engine apart and measure internal component sizes lol.

its not that mate when i went to southend a few months back the coppers were pulling people over into a petrol station i think they had there bonnets up looking around the engine bay i thought they was looking for sh*t like that

How about ringing the insurance co and saying youre thinking about modding but wanted to check the insurance first of all? Of course, they could then flag up your file to check the lump if you write it off...
