FAO Milltek Owners

Car  200 Gordini
My right side of my milltek is giving out hot air and the other is cold. The right also gives out the fumes/steam and the left doesnt.

What can this be? anyway of getting it checked?

because its the most direct pipe for the gases to naturally exit the exhaust.
Really really dont worry bout it at all. :)

Re: One tip pumping hot, other cold (Milltek)

I thought this too but the one giving out the hot air is the side which has the bends in it :S

Re: One tip pumping hot, other cold (Milltek)

Dual exhaust which only functions like a single = fail.

Does a Yozza do this aswell?

Re: One tip pumping hot, other cold (Milltek)

Ah, I've seen a Yozza in person and I didn't exactly whip the thermometer out of my back pocket or anything but it looked and sounded the nuts so straight away I knew which one is on the top of my shopping list.

Re: One tip pumping hot, other cold (Milltek)

yeh they are awesome!

(bumped the old thread getting that video lol. self fail)

Re: One tip pumping hot, other cold (Milltek)

You should have cut the video at about 15 seconds lol I was waiting for you to come flying back.

Sounds awesome though.

Re: One tip pumping hot, other cold (Milltek)

So do millteks normally do this :S? It sounds awesome (straight through centre section :P)

I just want to know if there is a problem, dan r says its okay but id doesnt add up because its the side with the bend that is giving out the warmer air and gases

The standard one has two seperate back boxes. where as most aftermarkets are just the single back box with extra pipes.

Re: One tip pumping hot, other cold (Milltek)

My milltek does it aswell, bit annoying as one has a lot more pressure than the other but im guessing there's nothing that can be done about it

The milltek has 2 different back boxes

Is the most pressure coming from the right side?

Re: One tip pumping hot, other cold (Milltek)

Yeh as Curley said the Milltek splits into 2 back boxes, i cant remember mate i'll check when i get home tonight

Re: One tip pumping hot, other cold (Milltek)

I was referring to the previous posts about one tip being hot and one being cold basically stating I wasn't sure if Yozza's do it or not if that makes any sense.

Has anyone contacted Milltek about this to see what they have to say?

Not yet, id like to see what other milltek owners are saying because im not sure if they're having the same problem coming from the same side.

Maybe a title change to FAO all Milltek owners may help

right got you now lol

In cold weather you only get steam out of one pipe, some youngen asked if my exhaust was a pretend one in december pmsl, but yes they all do it

Is it weird that neither of my std systems tips get Hot?
only warm ? Like even after a good thrashing I can still touch them fine :S

Nope, my standard one didnt either but then i caught my leg on the milltek and burnt myself :dapprove:

Just checked mine mate and the drivers side pipe is a lot hotter than the other, I'm getting quite irratic pressure from the pipes aswell but mine idles quite lumpy, I know people say the 1*2's have quite a lumpy idle but I didn't expect it 2 be that bad tbh

I'll be speaking to Charlie at Milltek in the next day or 2 about something else so I'll mention this when I speak to him and see what he says about it

Im also getting erratic pressure, this is down to the lumpy idle though... all that power in the car the size of a slipper :rasp:

checked earlier and the heat is coming from the o/s pipe mate

Seem like the norm then.

I still cant understand 'why' though lol hopefully callum001 can get the answer for us :)

ok wee update gents, just spoke to Charlie at Milltek and i've sent him a link to this thread. He's going to have a look into it as he wasnt aware of this before

i just remapped my motor yesterday (rs tuner) and thats sorted out the lumpy idle quite a bit which in turn has calmed down the erratic back pressure (still not a smooth pressure but i dont think thats much of an issue if at all ?)

the temperature difference hasnt changed though so still really hot on the o/s and warm/cool on the n/s

Thanks,

Yeah the rs tuner does sort the idle, i must get one when im back on road.

We'll see what the milltek man says.

my milltek seems to be ok, I remember having looked at it in some cold day and the vapors came on both pipes.. didn't touch them to see which was hotter though..
i'm pleased with the sound also and no cracked welds so far :D

p.s:the cat and center section are still on the car

I have a milltek but honestly never noticed if one side gets hotter than the other, will check tomorrow and update :-)

Well I've been out for a good drive today and just checked the heat on the pipes, and they both burnt my hand lol

So in answer, they were both hot :-)

Hope this helps.
