do i remember right that you had a loose engine mount that renault managed to fix for you? i have had a banging under heavy right foot action for some time now and its got really bad so all i can think is that it is the same thing you had. i had my motor at the reno dealer in rogate (not bad service) but they could not find anything. anyhow its due its big 36k service soon so will be in again.

it bangs like mad when i really floor it, did yours do the same? which dealer managed to sort it for you? cheers in advance.

it was SMC Renault in Woking I believe.

I also had the same problem mate and got my local mechanic guy in Liphook to sort for me....

I used the renault garage in rogate and they seemed good but like you said, didnt know what i was on about re the mount...

cheers vr6man. was it the mount under the battery?

did yours do it in lower gears when you get above 4-5k, sounds really bad?

rogate thought it was my magnex on the rear axle and adjusted it for me but it has got even worse now. ill take it there again and ask them to get in touch with renault in woking.

hi. Sorry for the late reply! only just seen this. Yeah as VR6MAN says its the engine mount below the battery. Mines in today -hopefully- getting that fixed (again) but when i took it to SMC Woking they seemed to know all about them - common problem with 172s. Woking were the garage that looked after the 172 and V6 from EVO magazine apparently, i think, im sure i read it anyway!

Hope you get it sorted. Heres the number from SMC Woking and see if they can advise the garage near to you on how to fix it? 01483720322
