FAO Tow Strap owners on a ph1

  PH1 172
How have you mounted these for track days or daily look if thats your use?

I knew I had to make the hole slightly bigger on the tow strap so that the correct bolt size that screws into the tow eye hole fitted through but I have come across 2 problems:

1) The bolt head barely passes through the hole in the bumper, which means there is no room for a socket or spanner

2) The tow strap has no where to pass through the bumper.

Do I need to cut away some of the square panel where the tow eye hole is cut or is there another way?

Thanks

The omp toe eye fits on the phase 1 as long as you drill the hole slightly larger, (avoiding the aircon pipe I think it is.) and there is just enough space for a spanner to fit if you jack the car up as I have both a strap and toe eye I interchange between

Could you not just tuck it behind the bumper when your not on a track day?

Yeah I could do so it means I only take the bumper of once but then I would need to cut away part of the bumper where the tow eye hole is so I can poke the strap through and not have any problems of it catching on the bumper if I ever should need to use it.

Yeah I know the Tow eyes fit without a problem, it's just I am not seeing how you have your tow strap fitted on a ph1 without hitting the problems I have in my 1st post? Any pics of how you fit your tow eye would be great please mate :)

What's up with just leaving it sticking out if it's your track toy?

I use it on the road as well mate and don't want it getting grubby and looking silly. My main question is to do with fitting a tow strap to a ph1 without butchering the bumper and want to know how the ph1 owners have done this :)

  soon to be 182 ;)
How did you get on mate?

well i found it a b**ch to do, had to take the plastic insert bit out, this will come out without the bumper off, then i made up a spacer so that the tow strap sat foward a bit and bolted it through, doesnt sit in the bumper very well as its slightly to big so gonna have another think, may take it off for time being as drove 60 miles and its dirty as fook

What plastic insert bit mate as the only bit I know that comes off is the little square on the rear bumper didn't know of one on the front? As for the tow strap coming through I take it you cut away some of the square plastic (one with the tow eye hole cut in it) or is this the plastic that un-clips?

Going to have a look at this over the weekend hopefully.
