FAO who has converted their 1.8>2.0 16v

To convert your 1.8 valver to a 2.0, do you get it bored out? or is it easier to source a 2.0 lump to fit in...

...and what sort of price are we looking at?

Thanks, Kai

The best bet is to source a 2.0 bottom end (from a Clio Williams/Megane) then bolt your 1.8 head on.. Job done!

This is what i plan on doing, soucing a megane bottom end seems an easier task then finding a williams one. expect to pay around £300 - £350 and you also may want to fit a williams gearbox as the 16v is slightly higer geared. £500 brand new from Renault.

So thats £700 inc a brand new GB, plus fitting for williams performance. While in bits you may want to decide on alittle head work too ;)

You need quite a few bits from what I can gather - Best to get the lot (about 1k for Williams stuff)..

  20VT Clio & 9-5 HOT

all u need is the 2.0 bottom end from a willy or megane, and a willy starter motor.

iv been on the search for months and finally found a 28k mile bottom end from a megane. thats if it ever gets delivered...!

like what daz? apart from ECU i cant think of anything else thats required. if going from say an RT -> williams spec then maybe. For a valver its should be straight forwardish.

eh? Im just going on what Weight did to his.. and he got the lot..

Geabox, ECU, Radiator, Wiring, ECU .. heh.
