Federal 595's.. Anyone use them?

I need some decent track-capable tyres for the clio.
The rainsports I had were fantastic on the road but got hot and fell apart on track :(

I was hoping for R888's but in 205/50/15 which I run on the 2118's I can't find any anywhere

A048's are £800 a set - so they're out my price range - especially for getting abused on track
Then stumbled on federal 595's - about £400 for a set from tweeks

I watched that ring video of the megane 250 doing a sub 8 minute and he said he was using them - anyone got any personal experience of them?

  Clio 197
i had them on my previous car (scoob) and they were fine, very affordable too as you have seen!

I've got some and they seem decent (copy and paste from another thread):

I've not used 888s before, but have used Dunlop DJ01s (which I believe are the older version of these: http://www.demon-twe...nlop+track+tyre). The Federals seem very very nearly as good in the dry, maybe not QUITE as stiff in the sidewalls though and seemed to 'go off' a bit faster. I am guessing this is due to them being new (deep tread) and having a few more grooves. Wear rate was normal too, no faster than I've found before on other tyres.

However, the 'downside' of the grooves in dry seems to have a bonus - they were amazing in the rain. Had a session of instruction booked and the heavens opened - even the instructor commented on how good they were! Rained so hard I had to have the wipers on full speed (http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?579064-Video-Cadwell-Park-Thursday-12th-May), but still was only about 6 sec slower over a 2 minute lap at that point of the day.

Need to add a bit of negative camber up front as the outside edges wore a little bit extra, but very impressed so far

I'm running 2degrees of neg camber - so that should be ok

I don't think its the 195/205 that's causing me problems to find R888's - no-one seems to have any in stock
And when they can get them they want £120-140 per wheel - which is a LOT more than than the £312 for federals

I prefer 205's as it makes the car a little more settled - on 195's I found it quite jittery
