Feeling the heat.......

  Clio 172 mk2
I try to ignore the extra fuel consumption with the AC on....I'd rather that than have a seat covered in sweat!

I actually don't think the CC in my 182 is that great. Obviously it's better than nothing, but I can never seem to get it *that* cold, even putting it on MIN and recycling the cool air (maybe I'm just not in it for long enough).

My other half has a Pug 206 with manual aircon and it's so much better, gets really cold really quickly.

right what has my clio got its the dynamique but i have obv dropped a 172 lump in it and it has the radiator pump for a/c how much of a hassle is it to fit? is it worth it? mine just has the 3 arrows on my heating panel at the minute and i never use it! i just tend to open the window stick my head out and let the wind blow through my locks

lots. you'll need the controls, aircon lines, evaporator, expansion valve, I'd imagine the heater box is different too. Basically an utter ballache of a job. You're better off removing the compressor and the condensor and fitting a shorter auxilary belt.

lol A/C is nice but I can live without it, and lets face it next week it'll probably be pissing hard again, it's only nice in this country for a month then boring rain again.:(

Thanks for that, I had my AC on 16 without the recycling air feature on. I thought the AC was just sh*te, I tried it with the recycling feature and now it's ice cold :D (well cold enough anyway). Altho, that doesn't solve your problems, sorry dude.

Button on the right of the A/C with the little arrows going in a circle on it.

I went for a longer drive with it on recycle, and ended up freezing, so it does work! As I suspected, I wasn't doing long enough trips in the car for it to cool down after getting in when it was like an oven.

Great advice I normally set mine just to auto, will try it and see if I can get the chiller effect!

Was worth every penny yesturday coming back from silverstone! problem is though once its been on for a while you cant turn it off cause it seems like you've been placed into an oven even with the temp set as lowest!

It's the feeling of how warm and muggy it feels when you open the door and get out that gets me everytime.

lol, get a Trophy - CC, a/c and quicker across country than the 182 Cup. Best of both worlds?

in truth my last 172 had climate and it was great although not very powerfull in really hot weather just enough but not silly cold. i dont miss it now i have a cup because now i have a cup !

also its 19deg today and raining in york. it will fluctuate all year round, id rather have the handling performance advantage over A/C for the time being unless it gets serioulsy hot all year round however this still mite happen this year i may regret it but im able to live through it and it just becomes part of the experience for me.

I found the recycle button! Had the car 9 months and had never even noticed that button. To think my profession involves observation too!

I really doo rely on my CC to keep me cool; I'd be super aggressive if hot and stressed behind the wheel. However, as soon as I can I open the windows - the car just feels too sluggish with it on.

MPG wise, if you accelerate a little more slowly, allowing for the drain of the aircon, and drive both motorway miles and town driving you will not notice little or no reduction in MPG. I have driven other 18k in 9 months in my 172 and really believe this.

'air con is great...then i looked at the mpg (after 2 hours parked on the A43) 22mpg'

DRIVE THE SAME ROUTE AGAIN WITHOUT AIRCON AND SEE HOW POOR YOUR MPG IS...

Sorry for the shouting

I manage 27mpg most of the time. and have even seen 35+ on motorways. lol.

We only live in england, whats wrong with just having the windows open!

I enjoy the summer, dont wanna spend the whole of it with the windows up, aircon on, pretending its not happening!
