feels like the cups got ABS!!!

Well i know it hasnt but......Well ive now only noticed this since ive had the car back from service?!
When brakin (especially at high speeds) it seems to not slow as much, and when i press even harder (to the point where it would normally lock up) she continues slower all be it at a slightly quicker rate. the brakes dont feel as responsively sharp as usual, and dont seem to be able to lock up. on my service the receipt said they were 40% worn?
So whats the go?!?!?!
any help much appreciated!

The less sharp they are the better. It means you have more control over how much stopping power you apply. If the brakes were as sharp as the normal Clios it would be down-right dangerous in the Cup.

Ive been thinking the same thing recently. The local supermarket is on a new estate (few cars, lots roundabouts, smooth road, no pedestrians :)) and the office is off a mostly deserted road so on the return journey I get to 80+ then hit the brakes.

They used to slow the car rapidly but recently it hasnt been as sharp. In fact Ive nearly missed my turning twice because of it.

Cant be brake fade after only 5 mins. So either the pads arent working as well or the feeling from the brake pedal has changed and Im not pressing it enough.

So Im considering the KTec kevlar pads first, then if that doesnt help then some braided brake hoses and better fluid.

My pads were 30% worn at the 12k service.

PS During the service I had a 1.2 Clio, brakes were brill on it, very sharp! No doubt due to ABS.

Well that aint abs thats for sure, ABS doesnt make you stop slower lol, the brakes are really sharp on my 172 and the ABS only has any effect if the wheels lock. up till that point they are just like normal.

Maybe there is some debree on the disks .. oil/brake fluid or something ?

I always get this when mines been in and its due to me driving other cars with heavily assisted braking servos, then you get back into the Cup and the brakes feel dead in comparison as you have to actually press them.

Soon get used to them again...

yeah i know what u mean fella, but i havent been drivin nething else. And believe me, this isnt in my head....for once! lol!

today on my way to Blackfriars, i was goin through a tunnel, had got a fair bit of speed up, and when i came out a lorry had stopped earlier than anticipated up ahead, now i know my brakin distance capabilities in this car so wasnt worried and proceeded to brake, but when the distance became smaller and i hadnt slowed nearly as much as i shouldve i applied the brakes harder! pretty much to the point of REALLY slammin the anchors on!! pressin as hard as poss!!! All be it she finally stopped, and just in time, but i shat meself, and it didnt lock up!! and i seriously was pressin hard as!!! My brakes are normally sharp as feck and i love em that way, just on the edge, being able to feel when shes about to lock and so on, so this has disturbed me a bit.

Any other ideas much appreciated. i have checked brake fuid and it is fine.

ive noticed my cup brakes are quite poor in the rain on the first press.the discs must be more visible to rain because of the multispoke wheels.
