Few ITB questions

  Clio 172 MK II
As I finally decided that I will go for ITB upgrade I have few questions:

1. I saw that everyone that fitted ITB on their cars have removed AC. Why is that? I was looking at engine and space around it and I don`t see reason for that.

2. Should I got for twin bodie throttle(TBS45i or THS45i) or should I stick to single bodie throttle (SF45/0/1)

If someone can help me with this I would really appreciate it :)

1. Maybe they were Cups that didn't have A/C to start with? Removing the A/C from a car that was fitted with it as standard would seem an expensive a drastic thing to do.

2. From my experience with multiple-carbed cars I'd think two dual-bore throttle bodies would be a lot cheaper and easier to keep adjusted properly than four single-bore throttle bodies. The former would only have one point of adjustment, between the two throttle bodies, whereas the latter would have three.

^^

SA & AC is not the problem at all :)
This can and will be managed without too much problems.

I thought it was partly due to the need to remove the air con rad to give clearance for the trumpets?

I was thinking the same, but that can be custom made so trumpets will have fresh air, and air con can still be on car

yup, otherwise it means shorter trumpets and that in turn means less power... may as well go for single larger body in that case.

Thought so, isn't that what Mike tried to do on his and it ended up not really giving him a massive power increase?

OK, so custom air rad will do the trick of having normal lenght trumpets and AC :)
I thought that there is something much worse than this :)
Thanks to all who helped me with this ;)

Not sure, think he was just using a Webber Alpha kit which isn't very good in the trumpets are short (or just plain useless if they are the mini IK types) and the ECU they come with is difficult to map. Not a great kit is probably the main reason, but Jenveys aint cheap (worth it though).

No, it's the alternator that's the problem, mine is running the smaller Cup one without the AC due to this. If you wanted both I'd expect it to be an expensive custom fabrication job.

you have also jenvey kit?

OK, for alternator I didn`t know, thanks for this info
is it possible that you send me some close up pictures of your engine?
just to see how it is done and to think a bit about instalation?

yeah mines the Jenvey kit mate, there are other ones, like the Webber, but Jenvey's proven and tested to produce power and reliability. Someone's developing direct to head bodies for a Clio, but they wont be here anytime soon and would imagine the conversion process would take over 6 months plus.

I'll speak to Andy and get all the pics from when it was done, as he did a step by step in pictures of it all. Here's a couple of samples though:
