Sorry to have a b**ch, but me and several mates agreed this is the worst clio trophy we have ever seen.
It has a number plate that is most easily recognised as "tw*t"
Wheels downgraded from the really nice trophy alloys to smaller 2118s with no centre caps...WHY?
Mirrors gone from body colour to black... WHY?

Yellow harnesses??? yukkk! colour clash!

These are the only things that we noticed at first glance, dare I ask what other vandalism has been committed?

Each to their own and all, but I'm always of the opinion when you buy a limited edition car it should be left alone.

Are you for real? If you (and several of your mates) thought so strongly about this car, why did you not go and have a chat to the owner at the meet?

You obviously didn't go anywhere near him or the car for that matter, as you are whinging about yellow harnesses. Where in fact they are red.

Who is the t**t here now? You perhaps.

In fact, I would have loved for you to say to Matt about his plate on the day.
Next meet will be very interesting.

Oh, his trophy is probably one of the most sorted and improved and looked after.

Who gives a to55 if it was a limited edition. I know Matt doesn't.

Idiot

Jesus mate put your handbags away! I would have spoken to him if I had known who the f*ck he was. Fact was he wasn't anywhere near his car when we came out the pub. I didn't feel particularly strongly about it, I was just voicing my opinion, and last time I checked that was perfectly legal.

You're obviously colour blind as you can see from the picture above the harnesses are yellow, NOT THAT I'M REALLY BOTHERED ANYWAY MATE!

With regard to whether his trophy is sorted or improved, that is entirely subjective as it's a matter of opinion in this case.

Well most people care about trophys being limited edition, that's why you would expect to pay more for a trophy than a FF or cup.

If you want to call me a tw*t and an idiot that's fine, but just remember you are the one who has lowered yourself to insults, I was just voicing my opinion, I wasn't slagging off the owner of the car!

You say I would have loved you have told Matt about his plate on the day. My answer to that is you are speaking like I don't have the balls to tell him, the honest truth is I honestly don't think he's all that bothered what I think, and he's obviously a user on here so he's not restricted by any means if he wants to know my thoughts.

I haven't lowered myself to insults, I was, as you put it, voicing my opinion.

If you didn't feel that strongly about his car, why make the comments in the first place?

No one else came back from the meet and slagged off anyone's car?

Jack, get real
NOT THAT I'M REALLY BOTHERED ANYWAY MATE!
if you're not bothered why bring it up?

Oh and Tbh Im not keen on the alcantara bits you've done on yours but im not yelling about it! So put your dummy back in.

Oh and rear silencer mounts are about £25.

Each to their own at the end of the day, but people are always gonna voice their opinions on it - whether you want to hear it or not. No need to go on such a defence, no-one is going to like EVERYTHING on someone elses car and the owner doesn't have to pay any attention to it if they don't like it.

CS is a very opinionated place, should know that by now.

was'nt having a go just interested thats all :quiet:

I know, i know ;)

I'm not bothered about his harnesses being red rather than yellow, I can't be arsed to argue about intricate detail with someone who clearly has too much time on their hands.

I'm not yelling about anything, just find it comical everyone rushing to defend Mat like I'm slagging him off, I'm sure he's a perfectly nice bloke and he's entitled to do whatever he wants to his car. I was just saying a few of us were in agreement that you should leave a trophy alone.

If you're cliosport admin and your gonna have a go at anyone, have a go at the bloke who called me t**t and an idiot because that is actually against the forum rules, where as voicing an opinion on someones modifications is allowed.

I accept that my alcantara bits are not to everyones taste, but with regard to your opinion on them, if you had a 172/182 and actually did some impressive mods to it and I might value your opinion :rasp:

Oh and I dont remember asking how much rear silencer mounts were :S

I thought all your cars looked s**t...

haha! but you still came along... probably due to the sort of people that attend BMW meets :rasp:

DISCLAIMER: before I get slated for the above statement, have a sense of humour, I'm only playing around!

I would have spoken to him if I had known who the f*ck he was.

Don't worry I'll make sure you know who the f*ck I am at the next meet. ;)

It is fairly obvious to me and others who know my car that the harness belts are in fact red. From the pic above all you can see is the yellow badges which actually match the badge on the Sabelt steering wheel very nicely. :rasp:

The car as you have probably guessed by now is used as a track day car, cue the cage, harnesses and 15" wheels. The changes have been made not for looks but with fast road / track performace in mind.

As for not modding a Trophy, it is after all a bl00dy Renault, which was an end of line parts bin special that was discounted from day one. I pitty anyone who paid top dollar over three years ago as resale prices have now crashed.

You will probably also hate to hear how the front suspension has been unpinned & lowered with custom made springs. Rear shocks binned in favour of a set of perfectly matched & re-valved Koni adjustable dampers.

The wing mirrors have the std unpainted black plastic covers on while I sort out a new set of painted ones. It was either two black matching wing mirrors or one red and one black.

Matt

Ok mate, no worries... I wasn't being disrespectful when I mentioned 'knowing who the f*ck you were' ... I was merely stating to the masses who said I should have spoken to you that I didn't get a chance to find out who owned the car.

Thanks for reply, I'm assuming you didn't pay "top dollar" for it then! Otherwise the sachs (I think that's what they are, I know they're expensive!) went to waste!
Did you buy it for the colour then (over buying a cup)? cos it seems like most of the parts that are unique to the trophy have been replaced with something else.

I thought because both mirrors were black you had some sort of colour scheme going on, didn't realise it was just a temporary solution until you could get them painted.

I'm still using the expensive & excellent front Sach dampers, which have now been un-pinned to release 40 clicks of adjustment. I've only binned (well stored in my garage) the Sach rear dampers which can't be converted to adjustable with a set of matched Konis.

As for the colour, it was the Recaro seats that did it for me. I wasn't too keen on the colour to begin with. LOL

I bought my Trophy three years ago from Masters in Beckenham and paid a good £2K less iirc. Most owners registered on www.cliotrophy.co.uk paid around the same as I did, in fact a few got them even less.

In fact all of my mods can be put back to std very easily on the car, still got the original wheels, steering wheel, springs, dampers etc etc. Wouldn't take much effort put it back to how I purchased it. Even the roll cage unbolts without leaving any holes. But there is little point for me as I don't intend to sell the car, even if I buy another.

The rears aren't sachs AFAIK, slightly uprated 182cup one's. Be interested to try a Trophy with the rear coilover unit from AST.

What do you mean by unpinned? Wheres the adjustment? Camber? Damping rate?
A good £2k less than what? List price?
Nah I agree it can be put back to standard easily, I think the turinis really set the trophy off nicely (fitted some on my 182 ;)), that's why I thought it was a shame you had put 2118s on there, but if it spends more time on the track than it does on the road that's perfectly understandable.
Aren't tempted to sell the turinis are you?

The adjustment dial is pinned in place using a grub screw. Remove the grub screw and you can adjust the damper.

The Sachs dampers are top adjustable as std, Renault for what ever reason decided to pin the top red dial at 20 clicks so that they can't be adjusted. Its a 10min job to unpin them.

I'm also running a set of cutom made Eibachs (spec by Mark Fish) which lower the car 10mm front & rear. Front camber is at -2.5 degrees.

Rear shocks have been changed to Koni adjustable which have been re-valved to match.

Yes approx £2K less than list which from memory was £15.5K.

Will hang on to the turnini for the time being - I was planning on using the 15" for track and the 16" for road until I saw the price of the tyres.

Ah right I see, those koni adjustables look bloody brilliant, shame they are so much money! Are they worth it do you reckon? (For road use aswell as track)
