Few wheel refurb questions...

Ok so I've done bits and bobs of spraying in the past but just wanted to clear up a few questions before I set about refurbing my own wheels for the first time...

Firstly, I know you sand down after filler, and primer, but then if you sand down after painting even with a 2000 grit, do you not totally lose the shine or metallic look of the paint??

Is there a way to stop this? Or do I just laquer over the paint without sanding/keying??

Secondly, with the 172 wheels you cannot see much of the inside of the wheel, is it worth not painting the inside? Or maybe just giving the inside a verry light coat of each stage? As it's not going to be scratched etc.

Third and final question... What colour primer would you advise under anthracite or silver? White??

Thanks ya'lll

Grey Primer and no need to sand down before you laquer i dont know why people do it.

Up to you on the rears, Personally i'd just give them a proper clean

You flat down before lacquering to remove the orange peel effect in the paint. Its not necessary but it will produce a better finish. The colour will look flat and dull but when you lacquer it you will get a nice shine. If you are after a really good finish though you will need to flat down and polish the lacquer aswell. If I'm doing something to a very high standard, I will also flat the primer down before applying the colour.

Dont flat down metallic base coat before laquering, you will always see the scratch marks in the paint.

Cheers, I do flat the primer before colouring, but when I've used metalic paint in the past, flatting the paint before lacquer has resulted in the paint losing its metalic look.

Bit scared to flat it if I do use a metalic colour. (still undecided what colour I'm using)

Cheers for the advice.

If I end up with orange peel I think I'll cry!
