File Types for Folders - Winxp prob...

After installing and removing a skin in Windows my file types have buggered up and my folders don't open properly. Double clicking on a folder opens up another folder window instead of opening it inside the original window.. I've checked the 'Open each folder in the same window' box within 'Folder Options' before you say it.

So can anyone tell me their settings within File Types for the FILE FOLDER... and also for FOLDER... I've uploaded some pics so people know what I'm whittering on about.

Judging by your screengrabs, your filetype called 'File Folder' is correct, just needs the icon replacing (see at the bottom of here) but your filetype called 'Folder' is wrong, here's the settings..

To replace the icon

You need to click the 'Change Icon...' tab in your screenshot and then point the browser to a file called 'shell32.dll', which can be found in your Windows 'System32' folder, the folder icon will be in there.

Thanks for the reply, I've sorted the icon but I'm not exactly sure what to put in the 'New Action' box...

I tried adding 'explore' and 'explorer.exe' but one of them has to be set as the default action, and I can't edit or delete them once they are added. (Had to go into the regedit to delete them)

Still have the problem when I double click on a folder, it brings up the search window. Odd!?
