no "filter" will give you "so much more detail", a Polariser might help with specular reflection.
I would tend to stay away from filters, with the advance of post editing software, save the raw image and work filters onto a second copy.
Looking at the image on your profile is a classic....."vignetting" from a poor fitting filter which has resulted in an image being ruined.
