Finally got a 172 at long last!!!

Those who don't know me, I used to have an RT hence the name, traded it for a mint VTS (which I love) but finally took the plunge - what the hell we're only here once.

Spotted online a 53 plate silver mk 172 at Benfield Renault, Newcastle. Though in once sense I like 182's, I prefer the quality look of the silver 172. I find the 182 silver dull. So to me I wanted a decent late 172.

Got round about what I wanted for the VTS, the Clio is registered as 28.11.03 so still has decent length warranty, and it's coming taxed, serviced and with new tyres.

Lovely car all round. Apart from the usuals it's also got both the 6 cd changer and cruise control.

Get it on Friday night.

I've wanted a performance Clio since 1994. Never bought a 16v due to insurance and then when I got the VTS, 16v's were too old for me and I couldn't afford a 172. But now, at long, long last....!!

I've had sleepness nights all this week. It's just been sitting there but I've been unable to go to the garage through work. Last night was a killer hanging on as I knew I couldn't go til this afternoon. Wasn't sure if it'd still be there.

As much as I love the VTS and will never let anyone say bad about them, though it's similar in performance to a 172, that's where the similarities end. It's another league all together in terms of looks, image, feel & spec.

yeah the vts is a top car. does exactly what its meant to be, cheap, fast & fun.

Congratulations!! I know how excited you must be, I'd wanted a racing blue 182 for aggggges and I couldn't wait to pick it up.

I love the silver 172s, and you've done well to find such a nice one.

Be careful with those alloys though, they're so easy to kerb!

theyre great cars for the money and insurance, strip them out, ik exhaust decat and a decent one should be able to match a 172.

but then theyre fast for a reason, they weigh f**k all.
they weigh f**k all cos theyre made of the thinnest metal in the world. lol
and hence why you can write them off at about 15mph.

your sat in some ghastly seats that the backs move on when your driving, youve got no luxuries whatsoever apart from some electric windows and mirrors. if you got long legs its awkward to fit in and you can use one foot to press both pedals.. even if you dont want to. lol

at least in the 172 you can go that fast in air conditioned leather clad luxury..

Despite what some say, the MK2 172 is still a f**king brillo little car. I love mine more each day lol.

I've kept mine for 15 months longer than I intended already lol. Can't think of anything on the market atm that really stands out and makes me want to buy one. It does everything I ask of it, gives me 35 to the gallon and still puts a smile on my face.
