You should start lubing mate if you are considering that. You could get a 182 manifold for 200-250 and acustom decat pipe to fit your exhaust for £75.
That doesn't work out at £800 LOL.

true, but i hate changing the de-cat everytime,
if i got the 182 manifold and the 182 sports cat, then just get a custom system made up, would you think that would be possible? or would that work out to expensive too?

You're talking at least £1000 for 10-12 bhp. That's £100 per bhp. Not VFM in my eyes. BenR's intake mod at £180 could add similar gains.

i'd put that £900 towards modified inlet, cams etc,i'd rather go sports cat than decat i've seen a 172 with a decat losing power on the rollers due to it although i suppose i'll get told i'm full of sh*t

thinking about it, its not that pricey,
ok to buy the kit is £634.50

to buy a manifold you will look at about £250
182 sports cat £287 (but then you will pay a more to modify it to fit the orginal exhaust system because its longer)

so thats £537 +for the modifying
so its pretty much the same.

its just Ktec's labour charges that bump it up a lot.

People say it's a biatch to fit as they are wary of dropping the subframe which you have to do to change the manifold, it's not actually that difficult just a bit time consuming.

I can't see dropping a subframe being that big a deal. Might take a weekend but I can't see it being hard.
As for the cost, could you not get a custom 4-2-1 made up for about the same price in stainless? I was discussing this with a mate who is building a 300bhp mk1 Golf G60 16v and he said he had a manifold made for about £250.

yeh, im gonna see if i can get a custom manifold made to fit the existing cat, does anyone know of any good places down south who could do it?

  MKIII 138
how come ktec sell all the parts most people really want i.e they listen to what people need, spend the time to develop them and then over price them by around 15%

its a shame as some of there things are really good

  GDI Demo 182, Rsi Spider
its certainly flowes better than the 172 manifold.

we have fitted a few of these for people and its helped top end power

Not being a pedant BUT, they also state on another page of there site that if you fit a 182 manifold you gain 5bhp !!!! so which is it 5bhp or 10-12bhp
