Finaly popped my SLR cherry!!!!!! (56k warning)

T'was my 21st yesterday and my GF went and got me a D40 and a few choice add on's which tbh, was over the moon with!!!

So last night i got it and first thing this morning i was outside cleaning the car so i could grab a few pic's.

Now i aint no Pro and doubt i ever will be but i do appreciate good pic's and in time would like to be able to take good one's myself.

So please dont slate, Constructive Critisim and advice would be preffered as these are my first attempt....

good first time effort fella. we've all got to start somewhere. give your manual a good read, it'll tell you the best settings for different shots, google the camera model and it will probably bring up some useful forums too which are a great source of information.

what was the original file sizes of your images when you'd transferred them from the camera to your pc? that's usually an indicator of the quality at which they were taken at.
