Fingertip controller not working with sony head unit?

my brother recently bought a sony 415 ip head unit for his clio 1.4 sport and we got the converter so he could still use the fingertip controller, all the wiring went together fine but the head unit isn't recognising the renault's fingertip controller even though we followed the instructions that came with it......any idea's pleeeeeease.

How old is the car?... you may have bought a non Can-Bus compatible adapter which would explain why its not working with the OE steering wheel column remote.

his car is a 2000 model x reg, if the wiring loom we bought doesn't work with his then will it work with my 2004 182 as i have the same sony stereo waiting to go in my car...cheers

hmmm, as far as im aware neither of your cars have Can-Bus then as im pretty sure its only in 54/05+ cars... try nipping over to Safe & Sound in Keighley (on Bingley old road opposite the back of netto on the LHS before you get to the roundabout) and have a word with one of the guys in there - they're really friendly and helped me out loads when i had trouble wiring up my HU

Chances are you've been supplied the wrong leads for your model.

funny you should mention that, i used to go there years ago when Andy owned it but i never went back since he moved over to Ireland and sold the business on....Cheers though i'll definately keep that in mind, i'm only 20 minutes on the road from there anyway......oh wait i keep forgetting i don't drive the land rover any more....make that 10 minutes now

i just checked with my brother, he says his was the last of the mk2 clio's and it was made in november 2000
i just checked the wiring loom we were sold.....which by the way was sold to us by some guy in motorworld who didin't seem to have a clue, it's got a yellow conector block which matches up to the car's block and it also has a black power unit which says (Autoleads 099-X01/X12 Renault multistalk adaptor)....cheers

Good luck getting it sorted mate, i havent had any luck with autoleads stuff in mine - ended up returning it all and getting Mat (MT Audio) to sort me out

Nice one....
just rang safe n sound, really helpfull guy says i might need the lead that plugs directly into the back of the dashtop display, left me a little confused so i'll probably take a drive on there this week and let him take a look, i really want to keep my figertip controls if i can.
