Fire Ring - Downpipe to Decat?

Hoping someone can answer this, as renault say there is not but then if there isn't I don't see how it could seal it it would explain my blows..

From the downpipe to the decat, where the flexi join is (with the spring bolts), is/should there be a fire ring in the join?

I have a 52 plate 172

No clue if it's a fire ring (or what that is), but there is a metal mesh yes in the cat-fitting kit .

Yes there is a ring as seen on this link to the fitting kit, and yes they do wear out over time and blow.

Thanks - Does anyone know the diameter of the ring as I don't need a full fitting kit and the rings are pennies

The springs loose tension over time. And a new ring just blows. Buy a new kit

I can only assume being that it is just some springs, bolts and mounts it will be of equal quality?

I fitted that kit from that seller this week (although just the fitting kit didn't get the other bits) and its spot on.

This might seem like a stupid question but i'm not really down with petrol engines, what would the negatives be to this part blowing? Low economy (but isn't it after the lambda sensor)? Cheers
