Firewall sound deadening

I'm changing the wiring loom around the engine bay for the second time today and a the sound deadening was a PITA to put back right last time.. Was wondering, does anyone not use it and are there any issues not using it? My worries are the fact it exposes the brake lines to the heat from the manifold.

Anyone not use it?

Leave it on. I know people that have removed it and melted brake pipes etc...

ai don't remove it!! seen a mk1 on a rolling road go up in smoke as a result of no heatshield. less extreme if the cars moving but will easily ruin cables and strip paint/coating from the brake lines
