Should go for a Clio dynamique 1.2 or something, thats what I've got! Good fun car to drive and I love the interior. Can pick them up very cheap aswell nowadays. May aswell save money and buy something faster in the future have fun!
Don't know why everyone's having a go at the guy for spending 'too much' on a first car.
He has clearly said that his dad won't buy anything second hand and fair play to him, if my dad was offering me a brand new car I wouldn't say no and get an old one!
Surely as your first car, you sho
uld be looking at running costs over most other factors?
Have a look at a new Fiat Panda. Absolutely brilliant car, European Car of the Year (may have been the previous model but it's the same formula), no major reported faults with the outgoing model, road tax is free on some models and they are pretty much the cheapest car going that you can run day to day (insurance group 2).
They are also great fun to drive and have a cool/quirky image.
I like both the Clio and Polo.
Id go for a VW if they have sorted out the dodgy door electrics from previous models.
But Clio dci will be good on fuel and have torque for easy driving.
Option 3? Fiesta 1.4 TDCI ?
If it was me I'd get a Fiat 500 Twinair.
Didn't realise the new ones were 1.2. Polo Bluemotion = chuffing awesome, I really like them.
Get real everyone...his dad's offering to buy him a brand new car. He's in the market for a NEW car, suggesting MK2 DCi's is pointless.

I do apologise, Cliosport is not usually this retarded.

Daddy can i have a car?
Ok son.
Exactly, I cant believe how many dicks there are replying! I DON'T WANT A NEW CAR! BUT THE LEAST I CAN DO IS APPRECIATE IT!
LOL.Will you stick around on here or are you off to join polosport.net ?
Ironic surname, Mr G.Clio, given that you've just about bought a Polo.
Hope you enjoy it... (3cyl 1.2 petrol?! :dapprove: )
Don't become a statistic !

I'd buy the Clio. For the same money it'll have more toys than the Polo. As for build quality, meh, VWs rattle too.
This. It will hold it's value much better too. The Bluemotion is one of my favourite Volkswagens, I'd 100% get one if I had the money.Pff its just a username And I will have to look into Bluemotion but...
In the end it turns out you get more for your money on the Polo and a nicer interior in my opinion.
polos look better too... imo

So you're telling me that for the same money as the Clio, you can buy a Polo of the same age and mileage that's better equipped? I find that hard to believe, but ok.
It's only a 1.2 though and low-powered. A diesel without a turbo wouldn't move!
So is it actually your dads car then?
Think you have to be 21 or 25 to do the IAM stuff, or I'd have done it straight away.

I heard fronting is a good idea too.
Fronting FTMFW! I did it for the first 2 years of driving.
(SRS)
If that happened to me I'd refuse to stump up. And then buy a better car with my half of the money.
