First Car?

Hi im new,Looks a great site:)
Right i am thinking about getting a 1.2 clio dynamique but i was wondering is the clio 172 shell the same?
As i would like to modify it(Not bodykits and neons lol)nice and i was wondering would say the 172 or 182 engine fit in the 1.2 shell?Because rather mod it and sell it,i would like to mod it for say 2 years then put the 172/182 engine in if it could be done!

Any help appreciated,Jace

  B/G 182 + PH1 Track
My brother considered it on his replica, was going to cost to much to get it how he wanted, so got a 172 instead.

Do a search on him "Barron"

Why not just get a 172? The Mk2 ph 1s are pretty cheap now..

Oh, welcome to CS by the way!!

  Hyundai i40
how old are you??? guessing ur 17/18..... just get a dynamic and then wen its time to upgrade make the decision then whether you want a 172 or drop a 172 engine in

  2008 clio 3 1,2 bvr
definitely a slower one cos you'll need stronger one anyhow.
start from 1.2 16v.
higher you start, faster you'll need.

don't buy a V6, cos i think you'll need a cessna 172 next.

Just keep the Dynamique until you can afford a 172, they are excellent no-claims builders and a great car in their own right.

the dynamiques are nice to drive mate. your lucky to have one for a first caR. But as said wait until you can afford to insure and then buy a proper 172 instead

And thanks everyone i feel welcome already:cool:

Do what you want to the 1.2 and enjoy it for what it is. then when you want more power look at all your options. If you want a simple upgrade then the f4r (the 172/182 engine) is a good upgrade, but it isnt exactly cheap to tune. The other option, but more expensive intially is to put the VAG group 1.8 20vT engine in, which is renowned for its tuneability.

^^Ohh yes it is! That BAM Engine is scene atm.
Id say to you build up the No claims, work your way up, I started at a 1.0L Polo I only moved to a 1.2 16V Clio due to mileage I cover, does the job and hopefully next year Im moving to a Seat Leon Cupra/Audi A4. Insurance then will be much cheaper :D

I also started off with a 1.0 Polo, then bought my 1.2 16v (rapid in comparison) and i ve now moved onto the Lupo Gti.

Buy a 80bhp dci dont buy a 1.2 they have no guts

Problem is comparing like for like say a 51 plate with 40k the diesel will be at least another grand on top of the 1.2 16v, bear in mind my 1.2 16v did 40mpg all day long its hardly worth it. You can't really compare the dci 80 to the 1.2 16v, with the additional torque I would say its closer to the 1.4 16v.

even though its an option to do the conversion i think its best if your keeping your car long term, also if you do the conversion your insurance will increase unless you dont tell them(which you prob wont) then your taking the risk of having invalid insurance, so u better pray that you dont bump into anyone or vice versa or your really efd lol tbh if you sold your car added that to the conversion money, you could probly buy a real 2.0 so it is worth it??
