Just been quoted £185 for the 12000 mile service on my 172, seems a lot to me for just an oil and filter change, or is there other stuff done as well?

When i asked if he would knock the price of the air filter off because i have an induction kit, he replied the 12000 mile service does not include an air filter change and that it is not included in the price. So then i asked so with the "minute" service i can just pop in any time, and wait about an hour and drive off, he replied NO, the service takes at least 3 hours????? surly it doesnt even take the renault monkeys 3 hours to change the oil.

£185 is a bit high - think mine was £170. They do replace the air filter, and the pollen filter.

I got the air filter knocked off my bill on the 12k service (ITG panel already in), and also, bought 5 litres of Elf Semi Synth oil over the service counter at about £15.00, gave it to them to use, and they had to take off the £35.00 they would have charged me.

Standard price was about £185...and I ended up paying about £135.

can someone list what is actually done or cheked on the first service.

Air and passenger filter changed

Check some bits ie gaiters for wear, tyres level.

Change oil and filter.

Mine is coming up for its 12k as well. Just been quoted £175 by one dealer and then £183 by the next. Apparently the air condition is recommended to be serviced every 12k as well, however if you choose not to have it done then it knocks 30 quid off of the price.

Not worth getting the aircon done unless its 3yrs old or so.

Just to rub it in come up north and get a DCi

£150 for the 36k major service
