first service

can any one give a definite answer as to whether you still have to have your car serviced at a main dealer, or can you go to the vat registered chap down the road using reno parts to keep your warrenty intact????

Your choice but do you really wanna risk it for £50? I decided that £50 was worth it just for the peace of mind it gave me.

peace of mind? that would be fine if it wasnt for some of the monkies @ reno. if you have a trusted garage or one that comes highly recommended. after your first time youll have peace of mind and a car thats been serviced properly.

end the monopoly of franchised dealers servicing your car!!!!!!!

You can go where you like as the Government have stopped the dealer scaremongering and your warranty isnt affected. Just make sure that the garage uses Renault parts or equivalent quality. There was a large article posted somewhere here a couple of months ago about this.

Even the business of having to use Renault/whatever car parts is a nonsense because a while ago when I was in my local garage they had an Audi in for some work and the owner showed my two identical parts one stamped Audi the other blank, they both came from the same manufacturer and one was less than half of the price of the other. Yet Audi insisted that their parts were used!! The garage owner says that all this is an absolute nonsense as he knows he can source identical generic parts to save the customer a lot of money, but at present isnt allowed to because of the warranty. So they have two deliveries daily from main dealers at double the cost of what he can get parts for.

What exactly do some warranties cover anyway (or not) I bet when it comes to the claim it isnt worth the paper it is printed on!!

thanks for the info on that.

its good to know you can take your car to a local garge without letting the idots at renault rip you off and not do a proper job.:p
