Fitted Sport Lower Grille To Non-RS Bumper... Gotta Be A First Surely!

Right, this was not on my car. My mate went down to Renault a couple of weeks ago and ordered an RS lower grille thinking he would be able to fit it without a problem... however, as many of you know will know; its not that simple!
Completely different shape, clip spacing, curve of bumper etc etc...

Anyway after a whole days work and much trial and error we managed to get it to fit quite nicely!
I think it looks pretty good, only have one pic for now, will try and get some more to show how it fits...

I think the lower Grille was £40 from renault...

COBHC, what did you get them for? Im guessing you bought a sport front bumper?

Yeah, both off eBay. Grille and fogs were brand new but I had no idea how much they were from Renault, so that's a relief.

wasnt sure whether you guys on here would like it but the comment so far are really good, cheers.

Well, we had to do a bit of cutting to get the grille to fit as there are little flanges on it, then we had cut slots in it so that it would clip into the bumpers clips.
Then, obviously there was 2 large gaps either side of the grille... so we searched all over (The House, Halfords, B&Q) until we came across some old video cassette cases that had a textured black plastic look to them which was almost identical to the renault grille plastic.

We then cut this down and made up two good fitting plastic covers, these were then glued to the grille and the whole thing was attached to the bumper with the clips. Any small gaps or holes left over were then sealed with black silicone sealant.

Job done.

If your gonna run without a front plate on your bumper get a standard one and attach it to the outside of your pasengers side sun visor like so on the white Mk5 Golf Gti in background.

Then its on show through window when visor is down.
