Fitting a b&m short shifter to a clio 172

So i have bought a b&m short shifter and tried fitting it to my car today.
Currently i can shift it to reverse without pulling the reverse lock out sleeve up, the reverse sleeve is higher then the plastic of the gear lever which it shouldnt be able to cross without pulling it up.
What could i do wrong in the installation process? Any solution to this?

Come on guys, im sure someone here at least had a b&m shifter installed and can tell me if it was like this or it worked fine for him.
