fitting a sub/amp to the mk3 clio (197)

  Renaultsport Clio 197
the cabasse audio system is great but just needs more bass/kick... so i I'll probably get the sony slim series active 200w rms subwoofer..

or i'll go for the 300w bazooka and an amp.

before going to the electrician, anybody knows if there's is a hole for the power cable that will go from the battery to the amp in the boot ? and where will the cables from the head-unit to the boot go?
don't wanna drill holes in my car if there's already one in the first place.

you can tell me where these holes are in a 172/182, maybe they are in the same place in my 197.

any idea, drawing, sketch, link, photo and/or video will help

cheers :) (ps sorry for my not-so-good english)

Most people use the bonnet release cable grommet on Mk2 Clio's, you can either poke a hole through it or go round the outside of it.

It's in the passenger footwell. Not sure on the Mk3 though.

Like rob said, and then you run the powercable along the left side of the car. The RCA-cable from the radio you run along the right side.

I've got 4 extra power cables going through the bonnet release seal now. It's a bit excessive but I've not had any passenger complaints of wet feet yet so all is good.

I put all 3 wires for the sub down the left side. That side is used less often so figured it makes sense. Plus all the wires end up in the passenger foot well at some point so it made sense really.

so i just listen to what you say and "reverse it" cause my steering wheel is on the other side ? (non UK):D

Ah.

Well the bonnet release is always going to be there, so that makes the most sense as far as getting power for an amp is concerned.

With regards to an RCA, take the headunit and any surrounding trim out (a screwdriver normally does the trick), shine a torch up from the passenger footwell (in the dark) and if you can see light behind the dash, then that's the place you want to be fishing for a cable.

Other than that it's pretty easy if you can wake up by yourself.

The cable is always at the left side, my steeringwheel is also placed correctly on the left side :D

why dont you get a distribution block out of interest? then just have one cable coming out from the engine bay

theres a gomit thats ideal for all the wireing to go trouhg and thats directly behind the airbox. this goes straight into the back of the glove box and then u can route the wires to the back of the head unit and to the boot for a sub. what i did with mine was instead of splicing into the wires at the back of the head unit which will void your warranty btw!!!!!!!! i brought a ISO to ISO conector block and spliced into that. i then used a fli line converter to conver it from standard audio wires to RCA. this makes it a hell of a lot neater. atm im currently running a 3000 watt 12 inch vibe Space 2 sub and it sounds great. and it dont take up much room in teh boot either. still plently of room for the gf's shopping at the weekend lol. I also foudn out that if u turn the bass up to much it kinda stops u from breathing if your not carefull lol.... you have been wanred PM me if u want pics and wiring diagrams and more info
