Fitting Air Filter

As a complete novice to car tinkering i was just wondering how easy it is to fit a pipercross air filter(into original airbox) on a MK1 172.

It just looks like i need to unclip the rubber belt, but do i need to take anything else off , cause i don,t want to break something.

Your advice would be appreciated.

If you rename the thread 172 Mk1 air filter replacement you might get a better response. On a Mk2 its dead easy even for a dead-head like me.

Heres a bump anyway!

butch its very simple come on.

Just loosen the screw that goes te the TB, remove the little hose in the black duct (near the TB), loosen the screw that gos to the plastic airfilter, remove the rubber belt from the top. Uninstall the plastic hose between the TB and the filterhousing. You see silverish clips just click them open (BEWARE NOT TO DROP THEM THEY EASILY COME LOOSE AND FALL SOMEWHERE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT!!) you might take them out all the way

And done. assemble the other way around

cheers mate

p.s. make sure the car is not to warm otherwise its bloody hot in there
