So soon i should be getting my replacement exhaust,
Ive only rang a few garages but im getting in the region of around £60-90 (if there's no extra work required) for them to fit an exhaust.
Not too bad prices i think but id like to fit the exhaust myself on the drive, taking my time, using copper silicone so i know its sealed well etc, and because i have a bad rattle and i want to make sure the heat shield is secured properly.
The exhaust on it at the moment has had a new centre silencer so it looks like its been sleeved... to me it looks like if i unbolt the two U-clamps, it should peel off and with some effort i should be able to get the centre silencer out, ive temporarily replaced the V clamp. So id take the V clamp off and then get the sleeve off and centre section free first without cutting HOPEFULLY.
My main question is... i will have to drop the rear axel to get the back box off wont I? having the rear end up that high scares me slightly but ive done it a few times for lowering, Before I just put the car into 1st and jacked up the rear... is it fine to do this? having the front wheels locked in gear.
Whats the technique to getting the back boxes out? ive heard twist clockwise? or just straight out towards the end?
Also any other things like will i need to unbolt the rear exhaust hangers or can the exhaust move far back enough to come away?
