fitting coilovers

  RenaultSport clio 172 exc
I am torn at the moment between getting a set of koni adjustables or fk coilovers and at the moment the fitting is the thing that is splitting the choice. I have done loads of fitments of mc struts but have never done coilies.

is there much differance? do i need to get camber adjusters etc.

basically is it going to cost me more to get the coilovers set up right?

any advice would be great as i just cant decide!!!!!

You don't need to do anything other than the tracking. It's just that the FKs have camber adjustment if you want to change it.

I would recommend getting it set up properly once you have the money though, whatever suspension you get.

so you can just swap origionals for coilovers and it will be fine just not properly set up as havent been tracked etc?

in a nut shell, yes. but its defo worth getting set up properly, the step up from standard to coilys is amazing, the step up from unbalanced, untracked to balanced and tracked coilys is even better

How much should it cost to get Coil Overs fitted, Tracked and balanced properly? and how do you tell if its been done at all or done properly not by some greasy fat fingered badger.

The fks normally when you bolt them on will give you heaps of toe out and the camber will be all over the place,

you can tell by looking at the wheel and just driving it

4 wheels laser alignment place or a motorsport company with a flat patch will do it for you, and will be setup so much better

that extra £50 is what makes the coilovers worth the £££

Is it ok to fit them yourself then get the specialists to do the tracking, camber adjustment etc?

yes, but there's fitting them yourself, and there's having them fited by someone that knows what they're doing

i can set them up to about +/- 0.1/0.2 deg BY EYE (yes i am that good!)
