fitting mk2 dash to caged car

basically this welded cage meeans i have to butcher the dash to fit like cut the entire front sides of just before the vent , now not to bothered but wondered if theres a trick to doing it and theres no flex in dash what so ever not good ? opinion cheers

On mine (A mk1 so slightly different) I cut the ends off the dashboard, removed about 4 inches of dash then fitted the ends back on. Effectlivley just shortening the dash.
