Fitting my Recaros

Please can you take a look at the following pictures.

Picked up these seats, don't appear to be the original Trophy items(?) but did just come out of a 172 so those frames are correct...

With the existing 172 seats the former owner told me to reuse those bolts which hold it in currently, but I thought they were part of the subframe and attached to the standard seat? Do they come out or do I need new bolts. I don't doubt the previous owner but was puzzled by what they said.

Also what resistors do I need can I get them from maplin for pence?

Get some pics of the side of the sub frame up ???

Further to the above, more pics.

It seems actually upon looking more closley that these seats are infact on the rails and will slide within the the seat so itself should just bolt to the car which is correct.

However, I still wonder about the bolts..... What bolts go through the seat frames into the car? Can these be removed from the existing seat as what you see is what I have for them.

If they are on the frames mate it should just be a case of undoing the ones that are currently in your car and using the same bolts the attach the recaros.

And you say just use capital seating for the resistors? Ok will do that. Why may I have problems with Maplin ones though?

Rears? Huh? There are no airbags or anything in the rear. When I stripped my car no bulb illuminated or anything?

However, will any resistors do? Just a case of getting any old ones?

Yeah, that wasn't the question I was getting at. When you remove the existing seats they are on a frame. Of which there are four bolts which go into the car... Those 4 bolts appear to me, to be attached to that seat subframe and can not be removed. What I am asking is am I wrong? Do the bolts which are on the existing seats detach and can be used on the new Recaro ones of mine?

one ones in the exsisting 172 seats are welded on.

it appears to me that the "runners" on the bottom of the 172 seat needs to be removed ( can be seen when you remove plastic side covers on 172 seats) and then bolted onto bottom of recaros and fastened to car.

so
recaros
standard runners (backwards, forwards, up and down)
then nuts underneath to fasten to shell :D

As said, get the resistors from Maplin. They cost pence, and do the same job as the capital seating one's. Not sure on which one's you need though!

I would email or phone capitalseating to ask which resistors to get.
Looking at some previous post, people have said the resistors at maplins didnt work?
I'm not to sure, i bought from capitalseating, told them what i wanted it for and they sent it out, is more expensive though.

  My trusty lil 182 :)
Read the guide from edde on which resistors to use. IIRC it's about 3.3ohm and ones from maplin will be fine. Mine were 15p from maplin and been on the car for over a year with no issues.

Yea, thought £10 sounded extortionate when you mentioned it earlier J. Could you buy a couple off ben if he got 50-he's only over in crewe?

Think it's worth mentioning, when you take off the runners try not to let them slide out of place, as sometimes they will just lock up completely.

Just a thanks to everyone and their help.

Recaros are in and amazing.

Didn't take too long and resistors cost me £0.90 and doing the job just fine.

nothing wrogn with the maplin resistors. push them in and put insualtion tape over the end to stop it shorting out. job done. The seats mount directly onto the subframe. when you remove the old seat all will become clear.

Thanks for that, but if you read two posts up you would see it's all done now ;)

Ohh yes, and it was the maplin resistors we used (Me and Flaktrum) and just used insulation tape to secure. We bought too many and it was like 90p! Was it the 3.5 ohm we used? Anyway, it was around that and is fine. Anyone needs any advise on how the resistor goes in future - no problem.
